Local police official Zafarullah Somalani stated in a statement on Sunday that the explosion occurred in the Noshki area of Balochistan, according to the Dawn newspaper.
Somalani added that initial reports indicate that five people were killed and twelve others were injured in the explosion.
He also mentioned that preliminary investigations revealed that the blast was the result of a suicide attack.
In response, Balochistan government spokesperson Shaheed Rind issued a statement condemning the attack.
Armed attacks in Pakistan are particularly concentrated in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan regions, which are adjacent to Afghanistan.
In both provinces, armed groups claiming to defend the rights of the Pashtun and Baloch ethnic communities carry out attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians.
Islamabad has stated that the Pakistani Taliban operates from Afghanistan and organizes its attacks from there, but the Afghan administration denies these claims.
