AMMAN—Russia insisted on Friday that it will not start a war with Ukraine after U.S. President Joe Biden warned there is a "distinct possibility" that Moscow could invade its neighbor in February, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

As the West awaited the Kremlin's next move, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said his country did not want war but would not allow its interests to be attacked or ignored either.
In his first public reaction to the West's response to those demands, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday the U.S. and NATO had not addressed his country's "fundamental concerns."
