Thousands of Americans took to the streets on Saturday in New York and other major U.S. cities in a second day of protests against former President Donald Trump within two weeks.

The protesters denounced the White House’s anti-immigration policies, as the Supreme Court suspended the deportation of migrants under the "Alien Enemies Act," a law dating back to 1798, which Trump had relied upon.
In front of the main public library in the country’s largest city, near the famous Trump Tower owned by the Republican billionaire, demonstrators chanted: “Immigrants are welcome here.”
Protesters also gathered outside the White House in Washington, although in smaller numbers than the previous demonstration on April 5, which had drawn tens of thousands.
In the conservative southern state of Texas, a protest took place in Galveston—a city of 50,000 located along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.
On the West Coast, hundreds gathered in a San Francisco plaza and wrote the words “Impeach and Resign” in massive letters on the sand.
Reports also mentioned gatherings outside Tesla dealerships—the brand owned by Elon Musk, whom Trump tasked with reducing the size of the federal civilian workforce.
The mobilization was organized by a group called 50501, a name reflecting 50 protests across the 50 U.S. states converging into one movement opposing the Republican billionaire.
On its website, the group described itself as “a rapid, decentralized response to the anti-democratic and unlawful actions of the Trump administration and its allies…”
According to the group, about 400 demonstrations were planned for the day, with a call for millions to take to the streets.
However, it remains difficult to obtain exact numbers, as police departments generally do not provide crowd size estimates.
