U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that "U.S. control and ownership of the Gaza Strip" would be a good thing, reiterating a proposal he made several times during the early weeks of his presidency.

The American president added to reporters at the White House after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, "Having a power like the United States there, controlling and owning Gaza, would be a good thing."
Trump had previously backed down from his plan to take control of Gaza and displace its residents due to objections from Jordan and Egypt.
In February of last year, Trump stated that he preferred U.S. control over Gaza and the displacement of its Palestinian population, but Jordan and Egypt strongly rejected this proposal.
