Former U.S. President Donald Trump has drawn criticism after using a rephrased quote attributed to French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, suggesting that he is above the law.

On Saturday, Trump posted on X (formerly Twitter): "He who saves his country violates no law," according to the Associated Press.
His statement quickly sparked backlash, particularly from Democrats. Representative Adam Schiff from California commented, "He sounds like a true dictator."
Trump, who returned to the presidency for a second term just over three weeks ago, continues to face criticism over his governing style.
Napoleon, who died in exile on Saint Helena in the Atlantic Ocean in 1821, remains a divisive figure in France. Some view him as a reformist and the architect of key institutions, while others see him as an authoritarian ruler.
