His remarks came before boarding a plane bound for Rome, where he is scheduled to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, taking place today, Saturday.

In response to a question regarding shortages of medicine and food in Gaza, Trump said he had discussed the issue of aid delivery to the territory with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“I told Netanyahu that he must show compassion toward the sector; the Palestinians there are suffering. There is an urgent need for food and medicine. We will take care of it,” Trump said.
