Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he expects something in return for the approximately $300 billion the U.S. has provided to Ukraine during the war, according to U.S. media outlets.
Trump added that if he were president, Putin would not have started the war in Ukraine, and the events of October 7 would not have occurred. He also mentioned that he might meet with Zelensky next week and would speak with Putin to end the war.
Trump confirmed that he would announce tariffs next week in response to multiple countries, and that imposing tariffs on Japan is a potential option.
He stated that there is no need to rush regarding the situation in Gaza, adding that he is in no hurry to implement his proposed plan for Gaza, according to AFP.
Trump also announced that he has appointed Elon Musk, whom he put in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency, to review the Department of Defense’s budget, which for the current year is proposed at $850 billion.
He added, "I have instructed him to review education and the Pentagon, meaning the military. And as you know, unfortunately, you will find some very bad things."
