U.S. and South Africa to Hold Trade Talks This Week
According to media reports, the United States and South Africa are set to begin their first round of bilateral trade talks this week, following tensions sparked by U.S. tariffs on South African goods imposed during the administration of former President Donald Trump, which led to a diplomatic rift between Washington and Pretoria.اضافة اعلان

South Africa’s Business Day newspaper reported that South African Trade Minister Parks Tau is expected to lead his country’s delegation in the talks. The discussions aim to revive strained ties and lay the groundwork for a bilateral trade agreement, as the U.S. remains South Africa’s second-largest trade partner after China.

Minister Tau recently stated that African nations and the U.S. are planning discussions in June or July concerning the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) — a trade agreement that grants duty-free access to the U.S. market for many African products. He noted, however, that saving the agreement will be challenging.
