United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern on Saturday over the airstrikes carried out by the United States on Thursday and Friday targeting the Ras Isa port and its surroundings in Yemen.

Reports indicated dozens of civilian casualties, including injuries to five humanitarian workers.
In a statement issued on his behalf, Guterres said that humanitarian aid had been mobilized to support nearby health facilities. He also expressed concern over reports of significant damage to the port’s infrastructure, as well as potential reports of an oil spill in the Red Sea.
He called for the need to respect international law, including international humanitarian law, urging all parties to ensure the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
