The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, last briefed the Council on Palestine on November 25. However, consultations are still ongoing regarding the appointment of his successor.
In today’s session, DiCarlo is expected to provide an update on the latest quarterly report by the UN Secretary-General regarding the implementation of Resolution 2334, adopted on December 23, 2016. The resolution calls on Israel to cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
