Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko announced on Sunday that 21 people were killed in a Russian ballistic missile attack on the eastern city of Sumy.

In a statement on Telegram, Klymenko said the Russian military launched a ballistic missile strike targeting Sumy, which resulted in 21 fatalities and 20 injuries, according to preliminary reports.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the attack coincided with Palm Sunday, a Christian holiday marking Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.
Zelenskyy added that educational institutions and residential buildings were hit in the strike, calling on the international community to respond to Russia’s actions.
“This is the kind of terror Russia wants, and they are working to prolong this war,” he said.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been waging a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Moscow insists the war will end only if Kyiv abandons its ambitions to join Western military alliances — a demand Ukraine considers a violation of its sovereignty.
