Digital payment transactions in Jordan through the "eFawateercom" system, endorsed by the Central Bank of Jordan, witnessed significant growth in 2024 compared to 2023. The number of transactions rose by 25.6% to reach 66.07 million transactions, while their value increased by 13.6%, from 11.61 billion dinars to 13.19 billion dinars.اضافة اعلان

According to a report by the Jordanian Payment and Clearing Systems Company (JOPAC), December 2024 was the most active month in terms of both the number and value of transactions. It recorded 6.43 million transactions, representing 9.7% of the annual total, with a value of 1.34 billion dinars, equivalent to 10.2% of the yearly total.

The year 2024 recorded the highest number of transactions over the past three years, accounting for 40.9% of the total compared to 32.6% in 2023 and 26.5% in 2022. It also saw the highest value of transactions, comprising 37.4% of the overall total. This growth reflects a steady upward trend in the adoption of digital payments.

In 2024, the total number of digital payment transactions amounted to 52.87 million, with a value of 10.85 billion dinars.

Over the past three years, approximately 79% of "eFawateercom" transactions were digital, while cash transactions accounted for 21%. Furthermore, the number of digital payment transactions has consistently increased each year during this period.

The telecommunications sector led the list of categories with the highest number of transactions in 2024, recording 22.2 million transactions (33.6% of the total), followed by the water and electricity category with 18.3 million transactions (27.8%), and government services in third place with 12.4 million transactions (18.7%). Other sectors include mobile wallets and payment service providers (6.1 million transactions, 9.2%), finance and financial services (3.4 million transactions, 5.1%), education (1.2 million transactions, 1.9%), and others (2.5 million transactions, 3.7%).

In terms of transaction value by service type, government services topped the list with 8.5 billion dinars (64.1%), followed by mobile wallets and payment service providers with 2.1 billion dinars (16.2%), water and electricity with 0.8 billion dinars (5.8%), finance and financial services with 0.5 billion dinars (3.6%), education with 0.4 billion dinars (3%), telecommunications with 0.4 billion dinars (2.7%), and others with 0.6 billion dinars (4.5%).

The number of "eFawateercom" users reached 4.538 million, with an average annual increase of 412,734 new users.

Data also indicates that 95% of users use bank accounts for payments, while Jordanians make up 95% of the total users.
