The selling price of 21-carat gold, the most in-demand by citizens in the local market, reached 71 dinars per gram on Tuesday morning, according to the latest prices from jewelry shops. The buying price stood at 69 dinars per gram.

According to the daily bulletin issued by the General Syndicate of Owners of Jewelry and Goldsmith Shops, the selling prices for other gold purities from jewelry shops were as follows:
24-carat gold: 80.80 dinars/gram
18-carat gold: 63.50 dinars/gram
14-carat gold: 48 dinars/gram
Globally, gold prices hit a record high, approaching the key $3,500 per ounce mark on Tuesday. The surge comes amid investor concerns following criticism by U.S. President Donald Trump directed at Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, prompting a flight to the safe-haven asset.
Gold in spot trading jumped 2.2% to $3,493.41 per ounce as of 06:20 GMT, after hitting a record high of $3,500.05 earlier in the session.
Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures rose 2.3% to $2,502.40 per ounce.
