The increase in exports, as indicated by the certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry in March 2025, is attributed to a significant rise in exports from the leather and textiles sector, which accounts for nearly 88.5% of the exports. This sector saw a growth of 39.5%, reaching $79.1 million in March 2025, compared to approximately $56.7 million in March 2024. There was also notable growth in the exports of food and agricultural industries, with an increase of 29.8%.
Countries with trade agreements account for most of the industrial exports, particularly the United States, which receives more than half of Irbid's exports (from the Al-Hassan Industrial City and Cyber City). Additionally, the Arab League agreement accounts for about 7% of Irbid's total exports.
The Al-Hassan Industrial City dominates the majority of exporting establishments, with exports from this city constituting nearly 95% of the total exports according to certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry. This is followed by Cyber City, with exports accounting for no more than 4% of the total exports.
Hani Abu Hassan, the head of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, noted that the growth in the total value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry in March 2025 is a direct result of the significant growth in exports from the leather, textiles, and food industries.
He mentioned that exports from the Irbid Chamber of Industry under the Arab League agreement declined by 14.5% on a monthly basis for March 2025, reaching approximately $6.3 million compared to $7.5 million in March 2024. In contrast, exports under the U.S. trade agreement saw strong growth, increasing by more than 47% on a monthly basis in March 2025.
Abu Hassan pointed out that exports from the Irbid Chamber of Industry under trade agreements accounted for 84.5% of total exports.
