Clearance firms, ASEZA form committee to tackle goods transit challenges

AMMAN — Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies on Saturday agreed to form a joint committee and another committee with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and relevant government departments in Aqaba to address the challenges faced by clearance companies, particularly in Yard 4 of the Aqaba Port, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

The association’s president, Daifallah Abu Aqoleh, told Petra that the agreement was made during a meeting with the Jordan Customs Department regarding the flow of goods.

During the meeting, attendees discussed the operations of Yard 4 and the importance of establishing a national platform so as to decentralize the area’s operations, in addition to creating a clearance unit in the area affiliated with it to facilitate transactions and procedures.

Abu Aqoleh stressed that there will be another meeting to follow up on the outcomes of the first meeting which was held in Aqaba, indicating that Jordan Customs Director-General Maj. Gen. Jalal Qudah promised to lift all the barriers which stand on the way of the clearance and transport companies.
