MILAN (AFP) — Streaming service DAZN, which has obtained the rights to broadcast Serie A football for the next three seasons, suffered a major technical failure on Sunday.

Fans were greeted with a black screen on applications for matches of Serie A leaders Inter Milan against Cagliari and Lazio versus Hellas Verona.
Faced with angry subscribers on Twitter, DAZN apologised, insisting they were “working to resolve” the problem.
“The problem arose from the failure of the authentication service provided by one of our external partners,” DAZN said in a statement to Italian media.
“We are very sorry about what happened. Our partner is at work to resolve a problem which seems to concern several countries at European level.”
In a small revolution, DAZN last month won the rights to broadcast Italy’s top-flight football from 2021-2024 in a deal worth 2.52 billion euros.
But questions had been raised about the technical capabilities of the platform and the quality of Italian internet. From 2018 to this season, Sky and DAZN have shared the domestic TV rights to Serie A.
