On the reasons driving the rise, the data said the figures came as a result of the increase in tax revenues by JD74.8 million. At the same time, non-tax income went down by JD42.8 million.

The increase in tax revenues came as a result of the rise in taxes on income and profits by an amount of JD69.6 million, which reflects the efforts of the Ministry of Finance, represented by the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD), in fighting tax evasion and avoidance and signals the “gradual” recovery in Jordan’s economic sectors.

The first quarter’s financial data revealed a drop in non-tax revenues by JD42.8 million.

On the other hand, total spending rose during the first quarter of 2022 by JD78.5 million to JD2.204 billion, compared to JD2.125 billion during the same period in 2021.
