The envoy made
this announcement during a ceremony at the German embassy in Amman, on Monday,
celebrating German Unity Day.
Kampmann said
that his country, which is the second biggest development and humanitarian
donor to the Kingdom, established diplomatic relations with Jordan in 1953.
He praised the
close and trustful collaboration with Jordan in addressing multilateral and
regional challenges, including the Middle East peace process, the Syrian
refugee crisis, and the impact of climate change on Jordan’s scarce water
resources, as well as the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Reflecting on
the strength and vibrancy of the German-Jordanian relations and the joint
commitment to rules-based order, the ambassador expressed hope that relations
between the two countries will continue to grow “at this moment of epochal
transformation”.
He also noted that the
Russian war on Ukraine “has shown how fragile peace between nations continues
to be”, adding that “now, 32 years after the German reunification, we find
ourselves at another historical turning point.”
