Gov't maintains a cap on freight costs appraisals

AMMAN — The government on Thursday extended a defense order capping freight cost appraisals by the Customs Department for imported merchandise to September 30, 2022, according to a prime minister's office statement.اضافة اعلان
 
 The statement explained that the move aims to ensure stable supplies and stockpiles of essential commodities, foodstuffs, and prices.
 
 According to Defense Order No. 31 of 2021, the maximum freight cost valuation of a 20-foot shipping container originating from Asia and the Far East will be $2,000 and $4,000 for the 40-foot container. As for containers originating from Europe, the valuations will be $1,500 and $3,000 for the 20- and 40-foot containers, respectively.
 
 For shipments originating in North America, freight costs are capped at $1,700 for a 20-foot container and $3,400 for a 40-foot container.
