The project
would be built on a 27-dunum area, and will likely include a large business
center, similar to the King Hussein Business Park in Amman.
The
Greater Irbid Municipality believes the project will be a prominent architectural
landmark that will bring together the largest number of businesses, especially
related to technology, and will provide thousands of job opportunities and
revenues.
The project is
the latest to be announced by Irbid Governor Nabel Al-Kofahi.
Earlier this
week, Irbid Municipality’s Higher Council for Investment approved five major
projects in different sectors in the governorate. They include a train, mall,
and a central market for fruit and vegetables.
During a
council’s meeting on Tuesday, Governor Kofahi said that the idea of forming the
higher investment council is to develop a road map towards achieving the
investment path of the municipality according to a systematic plan.
The council’s
head said the five approved projects include establishing a central market for
fruit and vegetables on an area of 360 dunums.
The second
project is to build a hotel and a business center to attract large companies, a
conference center, restaurants, and cafes on 27 dunums.
The third project, will be setting up rail track to
link Irbid with the University of Science and Technology and King Abdullah II
Hospital.
The fourth
project envisions the installation of a solar farm to help reduce the
municipality’s annual energy bill of JD4.5 million.
The fifth project
envisages setting up a parking lot, and a travel complex near the municipal
building.
