In a statement, Arabiyat said that the
Kingdom received in just one week 50
Easy Jet and Rayanair flights carrying tourists from across Europe. He
predicted another rise in tourist numbers after Wizz Air begins offering its
services in the country as of next month.
The JTB is working on boosting tourism through agreements signed with low-cost
airlines as part of a recently announced government plan, Arabiyat said.
He said that low-cost flights are fundamental to growing tourist numbers and
driving the economy by increasing tourism income, adding that low-cost airlines
are the biggest and strongest internationally.
Arabiyat pointed to the JTB's continuous work with the
Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and airlines to make Jordan the go-to tourist destination following
the COVID-19 pandemic, which delivered a blow to the tourism sector.
