AMMAN — Total revenue of Jordan’s three
main telecom companies inched up 3 percent to JD673 million last year, compared
with JD655 million recorded a year earlier, according to the Jordan News
Agency, Petra.

A statement issued Monday by the
Telecommunications Regulatory Authority on Monday said the revenue was reported by the
country’s three main operators, namely Zain, Orange, and Umniah.
It said sales of interconnection and communication
devices accounted for 12 percent of the total income in 2021, a decrease of 26
percent from 2020. But data services accounted for 55 percent of the providers’
total income, a 13 percent increase, while voice calls accounted for 33 percent
of the total, a 2 percent growth.
Increased infrastructure spending and frequency
license renewals resulted in a 210 percent increase in mobile phone investment
from JD83 million in 2020 to JD257 million in 2021.
Fixed telecom sector investment in 2021 reached JD40
million, signaling a growth of 9 percent.
