AMMAN — The remittances of Jordanians working in
Qatar ahead of Eid al-Fitr reached $18m, Qatari money exchangers told Petra on Tuesday, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The Jordanian community in Qatar is around 70,000 people, compared with 60,000 in the previous three years, thanks to a
Doha initiative designed to provide 10,000 jobs for Jordanians in Qatar, which was launched in 2018 and another initiative launched in 2020.
Nasser al-Hajiri, a manager of a Qatari money exchange company, said that Eid al-Fitr coincided with the end of the month, when salaries were paid and that caused the increase of remittances not only for the Jordanian community residing in Qatar but also for most
Arab communities.
The remittances of Jordanians working in Qatar in the first quarter of 2022 stood at $117m, recording an increase of 17 percent from the $100m achieved in the same period of 2021.
According to the Central Bank of Qatar's data, remittances from workers of all nationalities in Qatar over the past year amounted to $11b.
