AMMAN — The number of Jordanian workers in the 100 largest companies and institutions employing labor in Jordan grew by 2.8 percent in 2021, and the number of non-Jordanian workers declined by 3.7 percent, the Social Security Corporation (SSC) has announced.اضافة اعلان

The SSC said on Tuesday that the total number of workers in these companies reached about 167,100 workers in 2021, compared to last year’s figure of 165,800 workers, a growth of 0.8 percent, but it remains less than the number recorded at the end of 2019 by about 7 percent.

The corporation explained that this decline was mainly due to the decline in the number of non-Jordanian workers by about 21 percent, according to Ad-Dustour.

The combined workforce of the largest 100 companies was comprised of 70.1 percent Jordanian and 29.9 percent non-Jordanian workers out of a total of 167,100 workers, SSC data showed.

The SSC analysis showed that of the list, 28 companies benefited from the government’s "Estidama" program, which covers 50 percent of workers’ wages in businesses and organizations that are unable to operate due to the pandemic.
