Kingdom’s tourism revenues reach $242.3 million in January: CBJ

AMMAN— The Kingdom’s tourism revenues saw an increase of $158.3 million in January, which amounts to 188.4 percent, compared with the same period in 2021 to reach $242.3 million, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان
 
 According to the Central Bank of Jordan data, the increase was due to a rise in the number of tourists in January by about 138,700 to reach a total of 205,500 tourists.
 
 Tourism revenue from Jordanian expatriates accounted for 40.7 percent of the total tourism income, followed by tourists from Arab countries (except for the Gulf countries) with 22.3 percent. On top of this came Iraq with 7.7 percent, Syria with 4 percent, and Palestine with 3.4 percent.
 
 In third place, tourists from the Arab Gulf countries accounted for 19.8 percent. On top of which came Saudi Arabia with 10.4 percent, Kuwait with 4.5 percent, and Oman with 2.2 percent.
 
 European tourists ranked fourth with 9.2 percent, on top of which came Germany, France, Britain, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Russia, and Hungary with 5.8 percent of the total tourism revenue.
 
 As for the United States, it accounted for 2.8 percent of the total tourism income.
