AMMAN —
Minister of State for Media Affairs and government spokesman Faisal Shboul said the government has not established a mechanism for distributing the media support fund due to a lack of money for the fund, according to Jo24.
Shboul said that Jordan is a member of the Council
for International Cooperation and Development, which comprises 90 countries and
looks into a mechanism for dealing with social media.
He said that the organization proposed establishing
a media support fund due to the advertisements on social media, which were
originally channeled to the media, adding that “we are working to collect part
of those revenues to distribute them to media institutions”.
The minister said that the distribution mechanism will be
announced later after the necessary fund are raised.
