In an interview marking his country’s national day, Hamblina discussed efforts to further build on what has been achieved by expanding cooperation between Jordan and Panama in various fields, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra.
“Trade exchange between the two countries is still “modest” and needs to be promoted,” he said, citing meetings with the Amman Chamber of Industry and the public and private sectors.
The acting envoy contended that Panama’s economy mainly relies on the shipping and services sector, as ships crossing the Panama Canal from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean save approximately 15,000km. This is why his country enjoys several free trade agreements with many countries, he said, the most important of which being the US.
“Panama is considered a commercial distributor for Latin American countries, thanks to its geographical location,” said Hamblina, calling on Jordan to take advantage of its distinguished geographical location by exploring the Panamanian experience in maritime shipping and logistics.
He also voiced his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s contributions toward refugees.
