Dr. Abu Ali stated that refunds for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022 have been fully disbursed, regardless of the refund amount, while 50% of the refunds for 2023 have also been processed.
He further noted that the department has sent SMS notifications to eligible taxpayers informing them of the refund disbursement and its transfer to their bank accounts.
Dr. Abu Ali clarified that those who have not received their refunds for these years did not meet the eligibility criteria or had errors in their bank account numbers. SMS messages have been sent to them, explaining the error related to their refund disbursement.
He added that the Income and Sales Tax Department will continue processing refunds for eligible taxpayers, whether partial refunds or those related to 2024, as per the plan and allocated budget for this purpose.
He urged all taxpayers to ensure their International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is correctly updated or modified if changed and to submit tax refund requests electronically.
