AMMAN — Jordan’s trade balance deficit in
the January–November period of 2021 increased by 29.2 percent, hitting JD7.824
billion compared to JD6.056 billion in the same period of 2020, according to
the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

According to a monthly report issued by the
Department of Statistics (DoS) on Wednesday, total exports in the
January–November period of 2021 reached JD5.997 billion, up by 18.3 compared
with the JD5.07 billion recorded in the same period of 2020.
National exports in the same period of 2021 rose by
20.1 percent, reaching JD5.447 billion compared to JD4.537 billion in the same
period of 2020, figures showed. The value of re-exports was at JD550.2 million,
up by 3.3 percent compared with the JD533 million during the same period of
2020, the DoS added.
Imports also went up by 24.2 percent, reaching
JD13.821 billion compared to the JD11.125 billion recorded in the same period
of 2020.
Accordingly, the export-to-import ratio stood at
43.4 percent in the January–November period of 2021, compared with 45.6 percent
in the same period of 2020, indicating a 2.2 percent drop.
