The US imported goods worth $92.2 million, out of
the estimated $120.4 million exported from the industrial estates in Irbid, ICI
figures showed.
It explained,
however, that the total value of ICI’s certificates of origin for July this
year, declined from the $123.5 million recorded in the corresponding month in
2021, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The decline was driven by the affected purchasing
power following Russia’s war in Ukraine, and a hike in transport costs, ICI
Chairman Hani Abu Hassan said in a statement.
Exports from
Al-Hassan Industrial Estate topped the
list of exporters from Irbid, with a value of $113.5 million, followed by Cyber
City which exported products worth $6.1 million. The remainder came from other
industrial zones.
Textile and leather products maintained their top
status in the sector-based exports, with a value of $113.6 million, followed by
foodstuffs by $2.2 million, and medical industries by $1.5 million.
The US was followed by the
EU with $7.9 million, and
Arab countries with $7.43 million. The remaining shipments went to Canada and
markets in Southeast Asia.
