AMMAN — The World Bank on Wednesday approved an
additional $63.75 million in funding to support Jordan’s
COVID-19 response
program.

The additional funding aims to hasten Jordan’s
vaccination drive
and support the inoculation of 75 percent of Jordan’s population, according to
the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The funding includes a $50 million loan from the World Bank, granted
for construction and building, $12.5 million in concessional financing from the
Global Concessional Financing Facility Program, and a $1.25 million grant provided
by the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Trust Fund.
The Minister of International Planning and Cooperation Nasser
Al-Shraideh said that the government appreciates the additional funding, which
is part of a larger $1.1 billion financing package from the World Bank.
