22.4M Euro grant signed to support Jordan’s education sector

AMMAN — On Thursday, September 22, 2023, Minister of Planning and International CooperationZeina Toukan, alongside Mark Schwiete, Director of the German Development Bank in Jordan, and in the presence of German Ambassador in Amman Bertram von Moltke, signed a grant agreement provided by the German Development Bank (KfW) to support Jordan's education sector.اضافة اعلان

The grant, totaling 22.4 million euros, is designated to finance the salaries of additional teachers working in afternoon shifts at Ministry of Education schools, as stated in the press release. This agreement will cover teachers' salaries for the academic year 2023/2024, which is one of the projects outlined in the Jordan Response Plan.

Toukan emphasized that the grant forms part of Germany's commitments to support the Ministry of Education's plan to accelerate access to formal education for Syrian refugee children without compromising the quality of education for Jordanian students. She also highlighted Germany's significant role as one of Jordan's key development partners, supporting crucial sectors in the country, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
