AMMAN —
Local sources contributed 28 percent to the total energy mix, while renewable
energy has contributed 26 percent and natural gas 73 percent, Minister of
Energy and Mineral Resources

Jordan News Agency, Petra.

At a meeting of the recently-formed
Public-Private Partnership Council, the minister and participants discussed
cooperation mechanisms within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to
harmonize initiatives and projects under the Economic Modernization Vision.
The discussion also focused on means of
addressing challenges facing the private sector in the energy field.
Kharabsheh stressed that the partnership will
help overcome challenges, and pointed to energy initiatives, including a road
map to switch to renewable and alternative energy, developing power stations
and boosting regional electric interconnection.
He also pointed to initiatives underway,
including mining projects, conducting feasibility studies to provide a suitable
investment environment, leveraging technology to reduce the carbon footprint,
achieving energy efficiency, and developing the overall energy infrastructure.
