AMMAN — The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) is following up on recent events related to the
overlap of 5G networks and air navigation systems it said in a statement issued
on Thursday.
The commission said the
frequencies used by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in the
Middle East, Europe, and Africa are “relatively far” away from the frequencies
used by the navigation systems, thus avoiding any potential overlap and
interference.
In its statement, TRC
acknowledged media coverage in the US relating to the issue but stated that the
problems faced in the US to not apply to the Kindgom.
The commission, in
coordination with ITU and its technical studies committees, is working to
review and follow up on technical reports and results in this regard, taking
into consideration the practices taken by certain countries to mitigate any
future problems.
