According to an ACC statement on
Saturday, the two officials discussed obstacles facing the flow of goods
between the two countries, and the possibility of holding an exhibition of Egyptian products in Jordan and intensifying visits of trade delegations.
Haj Tawfiq said Jordanian-Egyptian
relations in various fields are "distinguished" thanks to the
"remarkable" support of the two countries' leaderships, and this
should act as an incentive for the private sector to establish economic
alliances that include Iraq as well, as this will serve common interests and
achieve Arab economic integration.
He also said that the Jordanian-Egyptian
trade exchange faces many challenges, mostly administrative, but they could be
overcome and once obstacles are removed, the volume of trade exchange is bound
to grow.
He expressed hope that the next
stage will witness a new breakthrough in the form of joint economic and trade
relations, stronger cooperation, expanded investments and finding a solution to
difficulties and obstacles that prevent a better cooperation.
The Kingdom's exports to
Egypt during the last 11 months of 2021 amounted to about $151 million; Jordan
imported $482 million worth of goods from Egypt.
