AMMAN —
The exports of the
Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) increased by 50 percent to
JD1.647 billion in the first quarter of 2022 compared to JD1.097 in the same
period of 2021, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The ACI said
the growth was driven by an increase in exports of most industrial sectors.
The US, India,
Saudi Arabia, and Iraq imported good from the ACI valued at JD940 million, more
than half of the total value of exports.
India was the
biggest importer, at JD373 million, in the first quarter of 2022, compared to
JD157 million in the same period of 2021, followed by the US, at JD230 million,
compared to JD205 million the year before, Saudi Arabia, at JD181 million,
compared to JD160 million in 2021, and Iraq, at JD156 million compared to JD130
million the year before that.
Mining
industries exported JD537 million worth of products, the chemical and cosmetics
sectors JD308 million, and the engineering, electricity and IT sectors exports
amounted to JD234 million.
Catering, food,
agriculture, and livestock exports stood at JD177 million, therapeutic and
medical supplies at JD122 million, and dermatology and knitting at JD95
million.
The remaining
exports were JD72 million, by plastic and rubber industries, JD70 million, by
packaging, paper, carton, and office supplies, JD27 million, by the
construction sector, and JD5 million by the wood and furniture industries.
