AMMAN —
Director of
Al-Hassan Industrial Estate (HIE) Customs Wasfi Al-Mahasneh said
that the estate exported JD600 million worth of goods in the first 8 months of
this year, while the value of imports in the same period amounted to JD330
million, Al-Ghad News reported.

He said that the
customs department services all investors and industries, effecting customs
transactions and filing in data 24 hours a day, including during public
holidays, through several computerized customs systems.
This year, the
center dealt with a total of 14,314 customs declarations at HIE and 1,100
customs declarations in Cyber City, which also falls within its jurisdiction,
with the value of customs proceeds amounting to some JD2.9 million. By the end
of the year, the proceeds are expected to exceed JD3 million, said Mahasneh.
He pointed out
that the center, in addition to applying customs regulations in the service of
investors and traders, holds periodic meetings with strategic partners, be they
relevant government regulatory authorities or factory owners, as well as
specialized training courses in customs-related disciplines and industry in
general for students at
Jadara University, under an agreement signed to that
end.
The general
manager of the Traditional Fashion Company, one of the largest investing
companies, said the services provided by the customs personnel are “amazing”,
adding that they provide all the necessary facilities, in accordance with the
laws and regulations in force, thus lending support to the economy and ensuring
the smooth flow of goods in and out the estate.
