In a session held on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Husan, the Cabinet approved an amendment to the criteria for the delivery of electricity under the Rural Development Fund, based on the Economic Modernization Vision.
اضافة اعلانThe aim of the amendment is to support expanding industries and new industries, as well as streamline the process of connecting electricity for citizens.
According to the amendments, the organizational status will be revised, allowing electricity to be delivered to production, investment, and industrial projects both inside and outside urban areas. A new clause will be added stipulating that the Rural Development Fund will contribute 25% toward the establishment or capacity enhancement of existing power stations that supply power to development industrial cities, new industrial projects, or expanding industrial projects. This aims to encourage investment, create job opportunities, and reduce unemployment.
Additionally, the amendments will reduce the cost of connecting electricity for farmers, contributing to food security.
Electricity will also be allowed to be provided to communities consisting of at least five homes, with a cost of 6,000 dinars per home for those requiring medium and low-voltage transformers and poles, provided that the community has an official organizational plan, the necessary documents, and essential infrastructure such as roads and water.
This decision also aims to reduce the financial burden on citizens for connecting electricity to their homes and contribute to the development of electrical infrastructure, improving service levels.
