The forum will bring together a prominent
Jordanian trade delegation, including chamber presidents, representatives from various trade
sectors, employers' unions, and business owners. This group will contribute to
the exchange of ideas and opportunities during the forum, further enhancing
bilateral trade relations.
Notable growth in 2022
The potential for the business forum to bolster trade
relations between Jordan and Iraq is significant, as trade between the two
countries has already seen notable growth. Trade figures surged from JD470
million in 2021 to an impressive JD872 million in 2022, underscoring the
importance of this initiative.
Khalil Haj Tawfiq, the President of the
Amman Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the significance of enhancing trade exchange between
Jordan and Iraq. Tawfiq highlighted the need to eliminate any barriers that
impede the entry of products and goods into the markets of both nations. By
removing these obstacles, both countries can create a more conducive
environment for increased trade.
Prior to the forum, the
Amman Chamber of Commerce will
assemble a Jordanian trade delegation, which will visit multiple Iraqi
governorates to establish connections with representatives from various
economic sectors, fostering mutual trade and investment opportunities.
Tawfiq further emphasized the significance of granting
preferential treatment to promote increased trade and encourage business owners
to form collaborative trade, investment, and industrial partnerships. By
incentivizing and facilitating such partnerships, both countries can maximize
their
trade potential and reap mutual benefits.
