AMMAN
— The head
of the Jordan Hotels Association, Abdul Hakim Al-Hindi, said on Saturday that
hotel occupancy rates at five-star hotels in Aqaba reached 85 percent during
the weekend, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.
In Amman, hotel occupancy rates
reached 70 percent, at the Dead Sea 82 percent, and in Petra 32 percent, Hindi
added.
According to Hindi, hotel
occupancy rates in Aqaba vary according to the hotels classification; four-star
and lower hotels had 50 percent occupancy rates over the weekend.
"This can be attributed to
several factors, including the end of Tawjihi (general secondary education
certificate examination), which enabled people to be able to enjoy domestic
tourism, and the conferences and festivals that took place," Hindi said.
