Business registration back to pre-pandemic levels

AMMAN — Registration of new businesses with the Companies Control Department has returned to pre-COVID-19 levels, the Companies General Controller Wael Al-Armouti said on Sunday.اضافة اعلان

He told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that figures of the first quarter of the year show that the number of registered firms picked up by 3 percent, compared with the corresponding period in 2019, and by 24.9 percent against 2021 figures.

The capital of registered companies also increased by 24 percent in the first quarter of the current year, compared with the same period in 2019, Armouti said.
Statistics showed that 79 percent of new companies in the first three months were registered in the capital, Amman, with a total investment of JD56 million, followed by Irbid with 7 percent with a total capital of JD2.8 million, he said.
The northeastern Mafraq governorate accounted for 3 percent of the registered companies during the first quarter, while Aqaba and Zarqa accounted for 2.6 percent each.
