AMMAN —
The
Cabinet approved a bylaw regulating the functions of councils in Jordan’s
12 governorates, according to Jo24.

It said the
approval came in a meeting Sunday, headed by Prime Minister
Bisher Al-Khasawneh.
The bylaw
organizes the work of councils, defining procedures for their meetings,
decision making mechanism, managing their affairs, forming committee and
elections. It also outlines the roles of the councils’ presidents, their
deputies and assistant and the mechanism followed for their election, as well
as provisions for the council’s secretariat.
The Cabinet also approved
a financial system under which the councils will operate. It organizes
financial matters pertaining to the governorates, including preparing budgets
and funds allocated to the various councils.
