Participating Jordanian companies were classified
into companies specializing in food, sweets, chocolate, coffee and healthy food
products.
Halim Abu Rahmeh, director general of the Jordan
Exporters Association (JEA), said that the SIAL Canada is one of the most
important food trade shows in North America, adding that external trade shows
are the best way to promote Jordanian exports. Jordan exports to Canada
increased to JD50 million in 2021 compared to JD44 million in 2020.
He added that JEA’s marketing activities are not
limited to the Canadian market, but extend to various other countries,
especially the US and some Arab and European countries in which the
Jordanian manufacturers could be present.
Abu Rahmeh stressed that increasing exports helps
move the wheels of the economy, provides more jobs, expands investments, and
supports the Kingdom’s foreign currency reserves. He applauded the efforts of
the Ministry of Investment in supporting the participating companies in the
exports sector.
Abu Rahmeh contended that the JEA conducted an
intergrated promotion program two days ahead of the trade show about Canadian
market opportunities. In addition, the JEA organized field visits to Canadian
warehouses that import products similar to local industries.
Jordan previously signed a free trade agreement with Canada
to increase the trade exchange and create new exporting opportunities to
Jordanian products in external markets.
