AMMAN — The Senate has approved a draft law
ratifying a loan agreement with Canada, aimed at providing support for the
country's vocational education system.

Under the agreement,
Canada will provide JD63 million (120 million Canadian dollars) to bolster the Jordanian
government's strategic plan for vocational education reform, the Jordan News
Agency, Petra reported.
The loan will provide financial support for
the renovation of workshop laboratories and vocational school maintenance, as
well as the purchase of new equipment.

The
loan agreement was approved during a Senate session led by
Senate President Faisal Fayez and attended by
Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh.
The agreement was signed by the Jordanian
and Canadian governments last January,
during the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Canada.
