Khudari said the Jordan-Canada agreement provides “numerous and promising” opportunities for national industries to enter Canada and meet the country’s needs for high quality goods.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a JEA training workshop, which was organized in cooperation with the Trade Facilitation Office Canada with the participation of companies and businesswomen working in the food and cosmetics sectors, Khudari said the JEA’s goal is to assist those businesses in accessing international markets and increasing their foreign exports, through capacity building and presence at international trade fairs.
In 2018, the JEA sent a delegation of Jordanian business owners to Canada to take part in an international exhibition to promote their products and meet interested buyers. “Such activities help increase business opportunities for businesswomen, particularly those who lack technical and financial support to enter foreign markets,” said Khudari.
In 2009, Jordan and Canada signed four bilateral cooperation agreements, aimed at establishing economic relations in various fields, including a free trade agreement and three pacts on investment, labor, and the environment.
National exports to Canada increased during the last nine months of 2021 by 19 percent to reach JD38 million, compared to JD32 million for the same period 2020.
