AMMAN — The Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies
is anticipating the resumption of transit operations between Lebanon and the
Gulf Arab states, passing through Jordan, after a hiatus of more than a month,
association President Daifallah Abu Aqouleh said.

In a statement Sunday carried by the Jordan News Agency,
Petra, Abu Aqouleh said that Jordanian clearance companies have been negatively
affected by the recent halt of freight shipping, as the Lebanon-Gulf transit
route passes through Jordan’s northern and southern crossing points.
"Lebanese merchants are intensively requesting to
import their goods through the port of Aqaba, up to the land transit route, due
to the high sea freight costs at the Lebanese ports," he added.
