Customs clearance and freight transport companies operating in Jordan processed 952,000 customs declarations last year, compared to 896,000 in 2023, covering export, import, transit, and re-export transactions.
اضافة اعلانDr. Deifallah Abu Aqoula, President of the Jordanian Association of Customs Clearance and Transport Companies, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that 247,000 vehicles were cleared for the domestic market and export last year, including gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid vehicles.
According to Abu Aqoula, electric vehicles accounted for the largest share, with 90,967 cleared in 2024, compared to 38,277 in 2023.

- Diesel vehicles: 14,420 (2024) vs. 8,104 (2023)
- Hybrid vehicles: 22,943 (2024) vs. 15,940 (2023)
Additionally, 105,301 vehicles were cleared for export in 2024, compared to 47,087 in 2023.
Port and Shipping Activity
- Containers arriving at Aqaba Port: 426,000 (2024) vs. 445,000 (2023)
- Exported containers: 109,000 (2024) vs. 115,000 (2023)
- Ships docking at Aqaba Port: 454 (2024) vs. 340 (2023)
- The increase is attributed to smaller vessels being used due to the Red Sea shipping crisis.
Expected Growth in Transit Trade
Dr. Abu Aqoula noted strong growth indicators for transit trade in 2025, particularly for trucks passing through Jordan to Syria.
- A record 835 trucks passed through Jaber Border Crossing in one day last week, the highest number in 15 years.
With export routes reopening to Syria, Europe, and Turkey, Jordan's transport sector is expected to flourish in 2025. Authorities are working to facilitate truck movement, ensuring smooth trade flow and enhancing Jordan’s role as a regional logistics hub.
