AMMAN — Jordan’s budget deficit declined by 14 percent before foreign grants during the first five months of 2022, compared with the same period in 2021, a local media outlet reported. According to Ministry of Finance’s data, the pre-grant deficit was JD6.03 billion, compared with JD7.08 billion in the first five months last year. The deficit after foreign grants reached JD5.6 billion between January and the end of May this year, down from JD6.4 billion during the corresponding period in 2021, a decline of 11.7 percent. As of the end of May, grants and external aid to the budget fell by 41.1 percent to JD42 million, compared to JD71.3 million in the same period of 2021. According to Ministry of Finance’s data, the pre-grant deficit was JD6.03 billion, compared with JD7.08 billion in the first five months last year.

The deficit after foreign grants reached JD5.6 billion between January and the end of May this year, down from JD6.4 billion during the corresponding period in 2021, a decline of 11.7 percent.

As of the end of May, grants and external aid to the budget fell by 41.1 percent to JD42 million, compared to JD71.3 million in the same period of 2021.
