AMMAN —
Domestic revenues
increased by JD864.7 million in the first eight months of 2021 compared to the
same period last year, the
Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday in a press
statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The ministry’s figures showed that tax
collections increased by JD514.7 million, while non-tax revenues increased by JD350
million during the January–August period of this year.
"The rise indicates that Jordan has
mapped out the right route for post-pandemic economic recovery and growth, in
addition to combating tax evasion and tax avoidance, while enhancing tax
compliance," the statement added.
Meanwhile, public expenditures rose by 7.8
percent during the first eight months, with an increase totaling JD449.4
million, compared with the same period of last year, while the public budget
deficit dropped by JD347.5 million to reach JD698.6 million during the first
eight months of 2021.
