Takween’s Product Design Fellowship was created in 2021 to aid designers and creatives in Jordan after the COVID-19 pandemic. In its second iteration, the fellowship was expanded to include two new design streams: physical product designs and digital product designs, according to a press statement.

The physical product design stream was facilitated by Jordanian designer Qusai Malahmeh and focused on the inclusion of the development of consumer products. The second stream focused on digital product design, such as creating digital services through apps, websites and UI/UX design, and was facilitated by Jordanian designer Ala’a Ali.

The program included a 102-hour diverse modular learning program focusing on the intersections of economic, social, and environmental sustainability in product design. Subjects tackled were entrepreneurship, design ergonomics, service design or financing, and sustainable design thinking. The modules were presented by experts working within the Jordanian or regional ecosystem.

Each fellow was then matched with local businesses and organizations working in the field of digital or physical product design. The fellows engaged in an immersive 200-hour internship with Takween’s partners.

Internships were offered at 01inventions, 360moms, Bravo Bravo App, Children Museum, FabricAid, Jazri Studio, Jawaker, Little Ones, MenaLab, Media Plus, Online Fashion Club, PiPharma, Shamal Start, Sitech, Syntex, Tadamon, Techworks, The Solutions Unit, Turquoise Mountain, and Waragami.

The exhibition is running until October 15.
